How to play Cash For Life in Florida
Ticket sales close at 8:30 PM ET – that's 15 minutes earlier than other states. There are five panels per playslip, where you can choose your own five numbers from 1 to 60 and Cash Ball from 1 to 4, or get a Quick Pick. Advance Play lets you enter up to 26 consecutive draws.
Claiming prizes in Florida
You have 180 days to claim prizes in Florida. Take your tickets to an authorized retailer, a District Office or FL Lottery HQ, depending on the value of your payout. You can also mail in tickets to the Florida Lottery, Claims Processing, 250 Marriott Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32399-9939.
Procedure for Lost and Damaged Tickets
You should contact one of the Florida Lottery’s District Offices if you have a damaged ticket that you think is a winner but it can’t be scanned. If you lose a ticket, you won’t be able to claim any prizes it might have won. You should always sign the back of a ticket to make sure nobody else can claim with it.
Taxes due on prizes in Florida
There is no state tax on lottery prizes in Florida. Federal taxes are withheld on prizes of more than $5,000 at a rate of 24 percent. This threshold is lowered to $600 for players who do not have a Social Security number. You also have to report any winnings of more than $600 to the Internal Revenue Service.
