How to play Cash For Life in Maryland
There are two ways to pick your five main numbers from 1 to 60 and one Cash Ball from 1 to 4 – get a Quick Pick or select the numbers yourself. You can use a paper playslip or an ePlayslip via the app. You can play the same numbers for 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 or 15 drawings in a row, while ticket sales close at 8:45 PM ET. Claiming prizes in Maryland
The claim period in Maryland is 182 days - two days longer than many other states. All MD Lottery retailers are authorized to redeem prizes up to $600. For larger amounts, you can claim at Expanded Cashing Authority Program (XCAP) retailers, Maryland casinos or the MD Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. The address for mail-in claims is 1800 Washington Boulevard, Suite 330, Baltimore, MD 21230.
Procedure for Lost and Damaged Tickets
You should sign the back of all your tickets to show they belong to you, as there is no chance of claiming a prize if your ticket goes missing and it is unsigned. Contact the Maryland Lottery if you lose a winning ticket that has been signed, or if your entry has been so damaged that it can no longer be scanned. The MD Lottery may investigate your claim, but is not obliged to pay out.
Taxes due on prizes in Maryland
Maryland has one of the highest rates of state tax in the U.S., going from 8 percent for non-Maryland residents to 8.75 percent for residents. This is applied on all prizes above $5,000, in addition to federal tax of 24 percent. You must also report winnings between $601 and $5,000 when filing your tax returns.
